On May 6, Yinzhou Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism & Sports Bureau reported a strong recovery in holiday tourism market during the May Day break. The district’s major scenic spots, including three A-rated attractions at Dongqian Lake, received a total of 629,800 visitors, up 13% year-on-year, generating 31.3624 million yuan in revenue, a 2.4% increase. The average occupancy rate of major accommodation facilities reached 75.57%, up 2 percentage points. Yinzhou launched over 100 themed activities spanning cultural exhibitions, music markets, nature exploration, and intangible heritage revitalization, offering visitors an immersive holiday experience.
Cultural and Museum Attractions Drive In-Depth Tourism
Yinzhou’s cultural venues welcomed 43,600 visitors, becoming a core driver of cultural tourism. The Yinzhou Library’s "Yinzhou in Its Collections: Scholar Wang Yinglin" research program attracted 21,000 participants, featuring hands-on activities like ancient bookbinding and studying versions of the Three Character Classic. The Yinzhou Children’s Library blended technology and fun, with VR space exploration and robotic dog interactions drawing over 2,500 visitors. The Zhou Yao Insect Museum’s nature camp, combining insect specimen crafting and DIY fridge magnet workshops, saw a single-day peak of 3,000 visitors. The Ningbo Costume Museum capitalized on the Start of Summer (Lixia) Festival, offering intangible heritage crafts like butterfly-patterned egg pouches to engage younger visitors.
Music and Markets Boost Holiday Economy
The district cultural center’s "I Hear, 1314" May Day concert series, blending folk and rock performances, drew large crowds. Dongqian Lake’s "Starry Night Healing Concert" became a nighttime hotspot with its immersive audiovisual experience. The "Chewy Market" at the lakeside and "Good Fruit Market" at Nanshang Water Street attracted over 10,000 daily visitors with diverse vendors. Jiangshan Town’s intangible heritage market, featuring local brands like Jinshi Cake and Lou Maoji, bridged traditional crafts and rural tourism.
Family-Friendly Activities Drive Consumption
Parent-child outings dominated holiday spending. Fengsha Beach added water bumper boats and treasure-hunting sand pits, significantly boosting daily attendance. Tiangong Manor’s Mulberry Fruit Festival integrated agriculture and tourism with reptile exhibits and garden treasure hunts, while Tiangong Castle’s Ne Zha Adventure live-action role-playing event, featuring popular IP characters like Ultraman and Elsa, drew tens of thousands. The Ningbo Ocean World attracted visitors with its "Marine Creatures Teach You to Succeed by Doing Nothing" themed photo ops, while Romon U-Park kept guests entertained with NPC interactions, EDM parties, and parades.
Intangible Heritage Gains Youth Appeal
The Yinzhou Intangible Heritage Center innovated with "One-Square-Meter Heritage Workshops", where 25 workshops showcased skills like traditional Ningbo furniture-making and vinegar-brewing via livestreams and performances, engaging nearly 10,000 visitors. The Southern Song Stone Carving Park recreated Song Dynasty elegance with tea ceremonies and incense-blending experiences, transforming historical heritage into trendy, interactive consumption scenes.
