On January 27, the Yinzhou District Library, together with the Yinzhou District Yue Opera Ensemble, the Yinzhou District Cultural Relics Protection and Management Center, and the Yinzhou District Calligraphers' Association, held a brand new "Tracing the Chinese Dragon - Garden Party in the New Year of the Dragon". Citizens searched in the Yinzhou District Library for different "Chinese dragons" in Chinese characters, spring festival customs, culture, intangible cultural heritage, cultural relics, and China chic, gathered the limited seal of the Year of the Dragon to complete the Spring Festival garden party activity, and received New Year gifts such as New Year window stickers and cultural and creative calendars and so on. The party attracted many parent-child families to participate.
Ren Guofu, the inheritor of the Da'ao Cloth Dragon Dance, brought a sparkling golden dragon to the event, attracting many citizens to experience dragon dancing. The villagers of Da'ao spontaneously organized a folk dragon dance team over 100 years ago, which has been passed down for 8 generations. Amidst the sound of five gongs, the dragon dance leader led the dragon to enter the stage. As it was a 9-section cloth dragon with 9 dancers, it had a beautiful and unique appearance. The dragon head was brightly painted and decorated with pearls and emerald. The inside of the dragon section was made of bamboo strips, and the dragon body was supported by thin steel wires. The dragon body was 17 meters long with a circular diameter of 28 centimeters. Under the leadership of Ren Guofu, citizens experienced various formations and movements.
The charm of the Yue Opera sang the attractiveness of the region south of the Yangtze River Delta. The Yinzhou District Yueju Opera Ensemble brought the citizens an immersive interactive experience of the Yueju Opera. Many citizens watched the performance of Yueju Opera at a close distance, experienced costumes and headdresses, obtained Polaroid photos on the spot, and enjoyed Yue Opera aesthetics while searching China chic.
Calligraphers wrote Spring Festival couplets, delivering blessings to the citizens onsite. Visitors also experienced woodblock printing, and participated in lantern riddle guessing, and knowledge quizzes in the Year of the Dragon and so on. There's a strong festive atmosphere in the Yinzhou District Library on that day.
