Yinzhou builds a comprehensive community science popularization ecosystem

Since the beginning of this year, more than 600 science popularization activities have been held in 150 communities in the entire district, benefiting more than 20,000 people... On September 5, it's learnt from the Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology that this year, the association has selected 13 communities in the district as the first batch of pilot units for science popularization innovation to explore the construction of the "Five Complete" community science popularization working system by promoting the provincial "Science Popularization Here in Zhejiang" innovation demonstration pilot project, so as to strengthen the supply of community science popularization resources, improve the scientific literacy of community residents, and leverage the power of science popularization to empower modern community construction from points to areas. 

Science popularization and technological innovation are both wings for innovative development, and are important foundational work for achieving innovative development. To sow the seeds of innovation deeper and further, the Yinzhou District Science and Technology Association has set its sights on communities, which is a unique position for science popularization. It has built a full chain of pilot projects to promote community science popularization innovation, built a favorable ecosystem for community science popularization on all aspects, provided community science popularization service products of all categories, innovated community science popularization service methods throughout the entire process, and developed "Five Complete" community science popularization methods for building a comprehensive community science popularization guarantee mechanism, having been recognized by the leaders of the municipal and provincial associations for science and technology. In the first half of the year, as the only speaker from the Zhejiang Province, the association conducted a typical experience exchange at the Science Popularization Forum held online by the China Association for Science and Technology. 

Recommended by towns and subdistricts, the Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology has identified 13 different types of urban and rural communities with good basic conditions, strong working teams, and high awareness of science popularization. Dynamic guidance has been carried out according to local conditions, cultivating outstanding models, and promoting quality and efficiency improvement of community science popularization. 

The Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology has established a community science popularization guarantee mechanism: including community science popularization work in the assessment of town and subdistrict associations for science and technology, and activating energy from the top-level design; project funding prioritizes supporting the construction of community science popularization galleries and science popularization venues, as well as holding of key science popularization activities, and creation of characteristic science popularization brands; establishing community science popularization branches or equipping part-time science popularization personnel and strengthening science popularization training to ensure that community science popularization is always available; encouraging residents to use the "Yinling Volunteer Bank" to record the duration of time devoted to science popularization voluntarily and stimulating the enthusiasm of the mass public to participate in science popularization. 

In order to promote the transformation of community science popularization towards being carried out in a normalized, diversified, standardized, and professional way, the Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology has compiled the "Yinzhou Community Science Popularization Guide" to provide guidance for community science popularization; drawn a science popularization map, gathering 70 science popularization cultural venues with different themes in the entire district, and motivated online and offline clock-in points, creating a 15-minute community science popularization circle. 

"The innovation of work for science popularization in the new era is reflected in the advancement of science popularization products and service methods with the times." The person in charge of the Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology said. The Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology provides a full range of science popularization service products for the communities, and has launched the "Science Honeycomb" community technology spark plan, formed a volunteer team composed of young science teachers, and delivered 30 science classes to the communities during the summer vacation; the golden brand of "Science Windmill" of Yinzhou for science popularization has been popularized to deliver socialized technology courses not only on campus, but also to the communities; entrusting professional institutions to screen science popularization movies in the communities, implementing monthly updates of science popularization galleries in over 270 villages and communities, and collaborating with social forces to carry out science popularization activities for the elderly such as on smartphones, health care, and anti-fraud prevention, etc., continuously improving residents' satisfaction with community science popularization services. 

Build a favorable community science popularization ecology and open up the "last mile" of science popularization to benefit the mass public. At major time points such as during the National Science Popularization Day, the Yinzhou District Association for Science and Technology would collaborate with multiple departments to deliver science popularization feasts to the communities, focusing on improving the scientific literacy of young people and improving the health of residents and so on; support social organizations to actively organize public welfare science popularization activities, mobilize academicians and experts, district-level societies (associations), and science and technology professionals to provide science popularization services in the communities. The soil for community science popularization continues to develop, and community science popularization brands are gradually shifting from scattered "bonsai" to full-garden "sceneries".
