An original Yongju,The Bygone Days in Ningbo, was performed at Shishan Theater in Jiangshan Town on September 16 and 17 in the evening. The screenplay script was written by Jiang Dongmin from Shanghai Huju Opera Theater; the stage art was designed by Qiu Bin, a national first-class designer from Zhejiang Peking Opera Theater; and Wang Naixing, one of the top directors in China, was the chief director and Wang Honggang, the executive director. Wang Jinwen starred in the show while other famous Yongju performers like WoXingkang, Chen Anli, QianHouyin and Shi Meifu also played important roles. It tells a story about a female ship owner in Ningbo, who makes her way to Shanghai and Hongkong to establish her business and become well recognized as “Queen of shipping industry”. The show received rounds of applause and tickets were all sold out.
The Bygone Days in Ningbo adapted from a book of Tianya, Queen of Shipping Industry, is an art work on Ningbo Bang.
Tianya, president of Jiangshan Town Literary Society, says, the show displays Ningbo Bang culture from a new perspective, which is quite attractive considering the 20th anniversary of the return of Hongkong. Meanwhile, the efforts made by a number of first-class artists rendered the show a more meaningful tribute to Ningbo people.
